The warm weather and sunshine we've been waiting for has finally arrived. Feeling the heat of the sun is a welcome treat after the winter months. A few weeks ago we were seeding oats and this week started planting corn! While the older generation is hauling around seed corn and working in the fields, the younger generation is just as busy hauling critters around the farm. Earlier this week we checked out the young stock, vaccinated and de-wormed everyone. Now they are all ready to head out to pasture for the summer, as soon as the grass is ready and we get a break from planting to move them around. Steph has been busy with her strawberry patch and getting ready to plant in a couple weeks. She will have fresh berries towards the end of July. If you are local make sure to watch Ivy's Berries so you know when you can get fresh strawberries grown right here on our farm! Anna & Cullen just had a brand new baby colt and another litter of baby pigs born. You can follow along with her at Silver Creek Farmstead to see all the cute babies as they grow and get locally grown pork to stock your freezer this fall. Spring has sprung and it sure is a busy time of year! We hope your enjoying it as much as we are.
