Butter coffee has been around for thousands of years, the first evidence of it being consumed was during the ninth century in Ethiopia. More recently, adding butter to coffee has been taken up by fitness enthusiasts and those on ketogenic diets. This high-calorie, high-fat drink is free from carbohydrates when unsweetened and is most often consumed for breakfast. Butter coffee lovers claim this beverage provides them with sustained energy throughout their mornings and improves concentration levels. I enjoy drinking one of these on the rushed mornings I don't have time to make anything for breakfast. The richness fills me up and makes me drink it nice and slow. The idea of mixing butter and coffee may initially make you turn up your nose, but when mixed together they provide a rich, smooth tasting latte type drink and you have the benefit of no sugar! One of the biggest advantages of butter coffee is because of the high fat content it helps increase satiety and control your late morning hunger pangs. Want to give it try? Here’s the recipe we use. It has only two simple ingredients, you can also add a tablespoon of coconut oil if you want to try “bulletproof” coffee or maybe a few drops of liquid stevia to sweeten it. We also highly recommend trying this with WW Homestead Dairy cinnamon butter, which adds the perfect amount sweetness and flavor (more calories but worth it). Butter Coffee Recipe
